seasonal musings from city, studio & garden
february in the studio
February is perhaps my least favorite month. That may be why I’ve included an extra quartet of photos in this month’s post, I’ve been making an extra concerted effort to create and notice beautiful things and share them with you.
january in the studio
This month has been a time for restocking the studio with fresh batches of all our formulas post-holiday, as well as taking care of a few housekeeping tasks, like doing the inventory. So many tiny glass bottles full of treasure to account for!
winter in the garden
I’ve been cultivating a fresh appreciation for the winter garden this year, visiting regularly with the intention of noticing the details.
december in the studio + in the garden
A favorite part of the holidays at the studio (and year-round!) is relaying the sweet gift messages you all include with your orders to their recipients.
november in the studio + in the garden
In November, my focus turns to holiday preparations in the studio. This month found me starting lots of infusions…
october in the studio + in the garden
This past month has been a time of many projects coming to fruition, and I’m so excited to finally share my new botanical perfume, elettaria, with you.
september in the studio + in the garden
The first crisp morning of the season. After a hot, dry summer, a bit of relief for both the garden and ourselves.
late august in the studio + in the garden
A shift is in the air. Shorter evenings catch me by surprise. The studio fills with freshly harvested botanicals and bustles with activity as we prepare for the cooler months ahead.
early august in the garden
A particularly beautiful moment in the native plant beds these past few weeks. Delicate shades of pinks and purples before the golden blaze of the late summer goldenrods and sneezeweeds.
late july in the studio + in the garden
Recovering from the heat wave. I kept my errands to a minimum, content with my little routine of walking from home to studio to garden and back again.
summer tea, three ways
We’re having a very hot week here in NYC, so I wanted to share some of my favorite ways to enjoy our teas in the summer without steaming up the kitchen!
early july in the studio
The light that breaks through after a sudden thunderstorm, though the last few weeks have been dry, with garden requiring endless watering. We could use some rain!
