simplifying + realigning

It’s been a while since I’ve checked in here on the journal, but I shared a shop update over on our Instagram page this week that I wanted to share here, as well:

A little note to let you all know that for the moment, and likely for the foreseeable future, I won’t be offering my work on online platforms other than my main website.

My work, which I’ve done entirely myself by hand for over a decade now, has always been about sustaining, not scaling. Connecting directly with those of you who purchase from the website, and with my beloved shop partners and stockists brings me such joy and I’m grateful for your support every day, especially in these challenging times.

The last few months have also been a time of reflection and contemplation, as we prepare to settle the studio into a new space (nearby! more soon!), and I envision the next phase of my work, it has become crystal clear to me that, for the moment, making my small-batch products available through other platforms (in particular those based on the idea of endless growth and scaling and an increasingly corporate approach) has ceased to be sustainable and feels out of line with my values.

To my dear retail clients, I look forward to putting your orders together with the same tender care as always, and please continue your incredible support the local shops that carry our products. To my wonderful wholesale partners, please reach out to me directly with your inquiries. In this moment it feels right to begin to reclaim our network of relationships in hopes of moving forward in a way that doesn’t deplete, but sustains and nourishes.

With gratitude, Briar.
